Abstract We present an experimental study on 49 New Zeland white rabbits. Two groups were made. The first group comprised 14 animals in which a bone cavity was made at the metaphyseal level of femur and tibia at the same operation, without any cavity filling. The 35 animals from the second group were operated on like group I, but in all these animals the cavities were filled with two plaster of Paris pellets impregnated in gentamicin. Biochemical, radiographic and histologic analysis was done on all the animals from the moment of the operation until the animals were killed. The statistical comparison was carried out by using Wilcoxon and student t Tests, considering significant values p 〈 0.05. We can see complete absorption of the plaster of paris pellets. Cavitary osteogenesis was produced in bone defects.

Résumé Une étude expérimentale est présentée sur 49 rats blancs de Nouvelle Zélande. Deux groupes sont constitués. Le premier groupe comporte 14 rats chez qui ont été réalisés des cavités osseuses dans la métaphyse fémorale et tibiale sans remplissage. Dans le deuxième groupe de 35 rats des cavités identiques ont été remplies par des languettes de plâtre de Paris imprégnées de Gentamicine®. Une analyse biomécanique, radiographique et histologique a été faite sur tous les animaux depuis l'intervention jusqu'à leur sacrifice. L'étude statistique a été réalisée en utilisant les tests Wilcoxon et student t. Il a été observé une résorption complète des languettes de plâtre et une ostéogénèse intra-cavitaire dans les pertes de substance osseuse.
