Preparation of a Rhodacycloheptane by Oxidative Coupling of 3,3-Dimethylcyclopropene to Rhodium(I) ComplexesThe rhodacycloheptane derivative 2 is easily prepared in good yields from tris(triphenylphosphane)rhodium chloride or carbonylbis(triphenylphosphane)rhodium chloride and 3,3-dimethylcyclopropene. Spectroscopic data and an X-ray analysis show that 2 is monomeric and has a syn,anti,syn structure. The hydrocarbon group of 2 is eliminated by reaction of 2 with CO to give hexamethyl-tris-σ-homobenzene (5) and hexamethyl-tris-σ-homotropone (4) in a ratio of 1:4. The X-ray structure of 4 is also given.
    Notes: Aus Tris(triphenylphosphan)rhodium-chlorid oder Carbonylbis(triphenylphosphan)rhodiumchlorid und 3,3-Dimethylcyclopropen (1) ist das Rhodacycloheptan-Derivat 2 leicht und in guten Ausbeuten zugänglich. Spektroskopische Daten wie auch eine Röntgenstrukturanalyse zeigen, daß 2 monomer ist und eine syn,anti,syn-Struktur besitzt. Mit CO wird der Kohlenwasserstoffrest von 2 unter Bildung des Hexamethyl-tris-σ-homobenzols (5) und des Hexamethyl-tris-σ-homotropons (4) im Verhältnis 1:4 abgespalten. Von 4 wird die Röntgenstrukturanalyse angegeben.

    Notes: Fourteen ruthenium(II) complexes of the type [RuCl2(η6-arene)L], (arene = 1,4-MeC6H4Pri or C6Me6; L = benzimidazole derivative in which the NH group is substituted by N-alkyl or isoelectronic O or S atoms) have been prepared by cleavage of [RuCl2(η6-arene)]2 with the N-heterocycle L. Their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties are described. The effect of the nature of the benzazole (L) on the catalytic activity of these complexes for the intramolecular cyclization of (Z)-3-methylpent-2-en-4-yn-1-ol into 2,3-dimethylfuran has also been studied; the benzimidazole complexes were found to be the most active.
