    Description / Table of Contents: The deeply coloured substances Ta6Cl15 and Ta6Br15 are compounds with metal-metal bonds. They crystallizes with a cubic cell, a = 20.286 Å and 21.290 Å, respectively (spacegroup10h-Ia 3d; Z = 16). The structure of Ta6Cl15 has been determined by means of three-dimensional single-crystal data; calculations on powder intensities showed, that Ta6Cl15 and Ta6Br15 are isotypic. The structure of the two compounds is described by the formula 3∞[Ta6Xi12]Xa-a6/2 (X = Cl, Br2).A characteristic feature is the occurrence of [Ta6Xi12] groups, which are linked infinitely. In the chloride the Ta6-oktahedron is quite regular (Ta-Ta distance = 2.925 Å). The first coordination sphere is built up by 12Cli-atoms in form of a slightly deformed cuboktahedron (distances: Ta-Cli = 2.413 ÷ 2.462 Å). The linkage of the [Ta6Cli12] groups is done by 6 Cla-a atoms. Each of these belongs to two neighbouring groups (bond length Ta-Cla-a = 2.564 Å; bond angle Ta-Cla-a-Ta =; 142.0°).
    Notes: Die beiden tief gefärbten Substanzen Ta6Cl15 und Ta6Br15 gehören zu den Verbindungen mit Metall-Metall-Bindungen. Sie kristallisieren kubisch mit a = 20,286 Å bzw. 21,290 Å (Raumgruppe O10h-Ia 3d; Z = 16). Die Kristallstruktur des Chlorids wurde mit dreidimensionalen Einkristalldaten aufgeklärt; durch Rechnungen an Pulverintensitäten wurde gezeigt taß Ta6Cl15 und Ta6Br15 isotyp sind. Der Aufbau der Verbindungen läßt sich durch die Formel ∞3[Ta6Xi12]Xa-a6/2 (X = Cl, Br) beschreiben2.Bestimmendes Strukturelement ist die dreidimensional unendlich verknüpfte [Ta6Xi12]-Bauenheit. Im Chlorid ist das Ta6-Oktaeder streng regulär gebaut mit dem Abstand Ta—Ta = 2.925, Å. Zur ersten Koordinationssphäre gehören 12 Cli-Teilchen (Abstände: Ta - Cli = 2,413 - 2.462 Å). Die Verknüpfung dieser Baueinheiten erfolgt über 6 Cla-a-Teilchen, die jeweils zwei benachbarten Gruppen gemeinsam angehören (Abstand: Ta-Cla-a = 2.564 Å; Bindungswinkel am Chlor 142,0°).
