Abstract The defensive secretion of Sipyloidea sipylus was analyzed using a GC-MS technique. Five chemicals were identified (diethyl ether, acetic acid, benzaldehyde, limonene, and benzothiazole) and mixed in about the same ratio as detected in the secretion to determine the potential effectiveness of such a mixture as a repellent against lab rats.
