Abstract Seed germination and seedling growth as well as chlorophyll and carotenoid contents of mustard and gram seeds were inhibited or reduced significantly due to the treatment of different concentrations (100, 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 ng/ml) of aflatoxin B1. The range of inhibition in all the parameters was found to be directly influenced by the concentrations of toxin applied. Mustard and gram seedling germination inhibition assay can be used for aflatoxin B1.
