Alkylation and Transalkylation of Aromatics on AlumosilicatesThe alkylation of toluene (benzene) with methanol and the isomerization of metaxylene on alumina-silica and modified zeolites (HNaY, HM, HZSM-5) are acid-catalyzed proceed via a same intermediate. Except for the samples HZSM-5, the alkylation of toluene (benzene) can be explained by activity - selectivity - correlations. The referential diffusion of para-xylene in the channels of zeolithe ZSM-5 leads to a high product selectivity in alkylation and transalkylation reactions. Suggesting the supposition of a triangular reaction scheme.
