Notes: Abstract Both specific heat and resistance measurements of organic superconductor κ-(ET)2Cu(NCS)2 under magnetic field were performed. Upper critical fields, obtained from the specific heat data, are significantly less than those from the magnetoresistance measurements. At temperatures below 2 K and magnetic fields below 1 T, we observed additional power dissipation due to the field sweep. This effect may be attributed to the existence of irreversibility line.

Notes: Abstract The effects of three forms of alginate (free acid, sodium and calcium salts) on ingestion and excretion of cholesterol in the rat were studied. For two weeks, Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed a cholesterol-rich diet containing 3% alginate from the brown alga Ascophyllum nodosum. The food efficiency of the three types of alginate was: Na-alginate 〉 Ca-alginate 〉 alginic acid. A significant increase in the weight of cecum was also observed in alginate diets. Alginate was not effective in preventing the elevation of serum total cholesterol levels, although irregularly changing patterns were observed. The cholesterol level of liver showed a tendency to decrease with alginate feeding, while fecal excretion of cholesterol increased.

Notes: Abstract: We report on specific heat measurements of the quasi-one-dimensional organic salt (TMTSF)2AsF6 in its spin density wave state between 75 mK and 7 K. Similarly to (TMTSF)2PF6, we find discontinuities in the lattice contribution at 1.9 K an d 3.5 K ascribed to sub-spin density wave phases. Time-dependent effects due to dynamics of low-energy excitations in metastable states occur only below 0.2 K which yields an activation energy for the equilibrium energy relaxation process of 0.34 K, 4-5 times smaller than found for (TMTSF)2PF6. Finally the reduction of the low-energy excitations contribution to the specific heat in comparison to PF6 reveals an intermediate cubic-like regime between 0.25 and 0.5 K that we tentatively describe as the phason contribution of the incommensurate spin density wave modulation.
