Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
The TSDC-spectra of Kapton-H thermoelectrets in the temperature range 303 to 573 K show three maxima, denoted by β, α and ϱ, with respective locations around 373, 453 K and activation energies of 0.14 to 0.34 eV, 0.32 to 0.78 eV and 1.0 to 1.5 eV. These maxima are caused by dipole-orientation, space-charge motion and surface-charge injection, respectively. An additional shoulder occurring at about 343 K with an activation energy of ≈ 0.1 eV is indicated to be allied with the main β-peak. Partial-heating and fractional-polarization techniques revealed the complexity of the β-peak, which is characterized by a continuous distribution of relaxation times resulting from a distribution in activation energy. The various effects resulting in the inequality of the values of activation energy calculated by different conventional methods are discussed in detail.
