Abstract A problem in after-treatment cannot be defined until a standardized management scheme for the normal course of treatment has been drawn up, when it can be defined in terms of its deviation from the norm. However, no standard schemes of physical therapy and after-treatment following surgery of vetebral fractures are available in detail in the literature. In this paper we offer a specification of postoperative after-treatment following operative treatment of vertebral fractures with and without spinal cord injury, and also a detailed scheme for conservative treatment. Case reports of difficult cases illustrate possible modifications to the after-treatment programme.

Zusammenfassung Bevor ein Problem formuliert werden kann, ist ein Behandlungsstandard, der den normalen Behandlungsablauf skizziert, notwendig. Durch die Abweichung vom vorgegebenen Standard ist das Problem definierbar. Bezüglich der physiotherapeutischen Begleit- und Nachbehandlung bei operativ versorgten Wirbelfrakturen liegen jedoch keine detaillierten Nachbehandlungsstandards bzw. Schemen vor. An der Berufsgenossenschaftlichen Unfallklinik Tübingen wurden ein detailliertes Nachbehandlungskonzept für operativ versorgte Wirbelfrakturen ohne neurologische Schädigung sowie mit Querschnittläsion und ein Nachbehandlungskonzept für die konservative Behandlung bei stabilen und instabilen Wirbelfrakturen entworfen. Mögliche Abweichungen von diesem Behandlungsstandard werden anhand von Problemfällen beispielhaft skizziert.
