Notes: We describe the SESAM program whose aim is to help the chemist in exploring new synthetic strategies for complex structures by locating simple, non-obvious but effective starting materials. The program works at the skeletal level and attempts to map simply modified starting materials into the skeletal surface of the target. SESAM has been tested on taxol and steroid frameworks.
