Notes: Abstract The temperature dependence of the critical current density at high temperatures and in weak applied magnetic field for YBa2Cu3O7−y ceramic samples with a pronounced granular character is analyzed. The experimental results can be explained in terms of thermally activated motion of the intergrain Josephson vortices at grain boundaries, which may be an indication that the actual limiting factor for the critical current density in ceramic samples results from a weak pinning force density for the intergrain vortices rather than from the weak-link quenching.

Notes: Abstract The effect of thermal and epithermal neutron irradiation on the superconducting critical temperature and critical current density of some Li-doped YBa2Cu3O7−x samples was studied. The critical temperature exhibits a peak and the critical current density a valley in their dependence on neutron fluence, for moderate dose. A simple model, based on the Van Hove scenario and the kinetics of the defect production, is used to describe both phenomena.

Notes: Abstract The evolution of the critical current density of Li-doped YBa2Cu3O7−x polycrystalline samples submitted to neutron irradiation is investigated as function of magnetic field (0 ≤ B ≤ 6 T) temperature (5 ≤ T ≤ 85 K) and neutron fluence (0 ≤ Φ ≤ 9.98 × 1017 cm−2). At fluences lower than 1017 cm−2, a second peak in j s vs. B dependence is present (fish-tail effect). Its magnitude decreases with increasing the fluence. Above 1017 cm−2, the second peak of current density completely disappears; instead, the logarithmic susceptibility shows a second peak at a certain field B infl. A dependence of B infl on fluence is proposed.
