Notes: Abstract In this paper the dual boundary element methods for the analysis of crack problems in fracture mechanics is presented. The formulations described include: elastostatic, thermoelastic, elastoplastic and elastodynamic. Also presented are formulations relating to anisotropic and concrete materials. Particular attention is given to crack growth modelling. Examples are presented to demonstrate the capability and robustness of this new generation of boundary element methods.
