Notes:
Abstract Ultrasonic velocity maxima have been determined as a function of alcohol (methanol, ethanol, n-propanol or t-butanol) concentration in ternary aqueous alcoholic solutions of a number of mono- and polyhydroxyalcohols. The location of the maxima relative to those in the binary water-alcohol systems are related to the hydration of the solute molecule. It is established that correlations between the extent of hydration and some structural parameters of the solute molecules are of the same character in all binary solvents studied.
