Studies on Oxide Catalysts. XXI. Investigations on CuNaY Zeolites by EPR SpectroscopyCuNaY zeolites with 2.5 to 18.5 copper ions per unit cell were investigated after a thermal pretreatment and thermovacuumtreatment at 200-600°C. According to the EPR spectra, three different localization sites of the copper ions can be distinguished in the zeolite lattice.By EPR investigations after reduction with H2 and CO, resp., it was found that the copper ions are arranged in the supercage in the form of clusters (signal at g = 2.16) and in sites II (signal at g1II = 2.38 and g1⊥ = 2.08-2.06), resp., and in the sodalite cage in sites I′ (signal at g2II = 2.32 and g2⊥ = 2.05).The coordination of the Cu2+ ions is discussed. A probable distribution of the copper cations in the sites mentioned is given.
Notes:
