Abstract The characteristic morphologies of components used to prepared fluidizable cracking catalysts have been identified informed microspheres by a scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive X-ray analyser system. Differences in preparation methods and materials are observed in the catalyst microstructure. Cracking unit processes and laboratory simulation experiments result in changes in catalyst morphology. The relationships between cracking catalyst microstructure and performance are discussed in this paper.
