    Notizen: The compatibility of various electrolyte and electrode combinations has been assessedbased on viewpoints of mechanics. The membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) was mainly comprisedof traditional ceramic-metal materials as well as solid electrolytes. Variations of key variables such assize and coefficient of thermal expansion were incorporated into ABAQUS sensitivity analyses.Accordingly, general design rules in manufacturing solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) were proposed, andthese rules were beneficial to produce multilayer MEA in the future

    Notizen: Vacuum repair brazing of Inconel 939 using various ratios of DF3 and Rene 80 powdermixtures has been performed in this study. The porosity of the brazed zone is decreased as theamount of DF3 is increased in the powder mixture. At least four phases are observed in the brazedzone including chromium borides, sparse carbides, Ni-rich matrix and eutectic phases. Primarychromium borides are widely observed at the early stage of repair brazing. Dissolution of the Nifrom the Rene 80 powder into the molten braze results in isothermal solidification of the residualmelt. The chemical composition of the residual melt subsequently moves towards the lowesteutectic temperature, and the eutectic is finally formed in brazing. The oxidation resistance test isperformed at 1000oC. Extensive spalling of the oxide film begins at 144 h, and catastrophic failureof the oxide film is observed at 1272 h. The oxidation resistance of the brazed zone is significantlydegraded due to the formation of chromium borides in the brazed zone

    Notizen: Functionally gradient materials (FGMs) composed of 3YSZ and IN713LC were developedin three different configurations. A linear-mode FGM had its compositions with a monotonic changein coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). Negative- and positive-deviated FGMs had theircompositions with lower and higher CTEs, respectively, on the ceramic sides. Fracture behaviors ofthese three types of FGMs were evaluated with aids of residual stress analyses. FGMs with apositive CTE deviation demonstrated the best performance in the experiment. The brittle ceramicside was under high compressive stress, and high tensile stresses were primarily initiated in themetal-rich gradient layers
