Notes: Abstract Based on the boundary value solution of electromagnetic fields, a calculated results of the 3mm-band higher order modes waveguide Y-junction cirulators, which are given with the frequency dependence of the eigenvalues of the junction scattering matrix, are presented for the first time. It has been verified exactly by the experiments. Using the higher order modes. the bandwidth of the circulators can be expanded.

Notes: Abstract In this paper perturbational expansion of wave equation is used to analyse the Gaussian beam radiation efficiency and the near field distribution of aperture antenna. The analysis is also suitable at large angles from boresight because the Gaussian beam used here is corrected to satisfy wave equation. An approach of minimum deviation of aperture field is used to calculate the Gaussian beam radiation efficiency, and calculation results is compared with that of Wydle's[1].

Notes: Conclusion Millimeter wave U-, V-, E-band is a transition region of the frequencies for currently available ferrite materials. In this frequencies region, C5-V mode can not provide satisfied performance of isolation and bandwidth, and CV-S mode and higher order mode have respective advantage. CV-S mode is narrow band but insertion loss is low, higher order mode can provide broadband performance in som extant but insertion loss increases. They should be selected according to the requirement of designs.

Notes: Abstract The whispering-gallery mode (WGM) disk type dielectric resonator used in millimeter wave microstrip integrated circuits has been computed rigorously by the radial mode matching method. The dependence of resonant frequencies of WGM's on the size of shielding box and Q factors of WGM's relating to leakage loss in the case of parallel-plate shielding structure have been analyzed.

Notes: Abstract In this paper the exact analysis on the waveguide junction circulator and Faraday rotator are presented in detail. The correctness of analysis is demonstrated by its successful prediction about the performance of the devices. Many calculation results are presented by comparing with the experimental results. The approaches of expanding bandwidth of devices at W band are stated.

Notes: Abstract In this communication a note on the coupling efficiency between an antenna and a Gaussian beam is presented. The calculations of the coupling efficiency from both methods, a nomorlized inner product between the antenna radiation pattern and the Gaussian-beam pattern or alternatively, between the electric field at the antenna aperture and a two-dimensional field representation of a Gaussian beam, are compared for different aperture size in wavelength. How a correct solution can be gotten is stated.

Notes: Abstract In this paper an analysis of the far-field pattern of a focal-plane array in the case of two different lenses, a coma-free lens and a hyperbolic lens, and their comparison, are presented. Ray tracing and aperture integration are used. The calculated field pattern at W band is presented. The focal-plane elements are assumed to be corrugated horn. The f / D of the lens is 1.3. The coma-free lens is designed by step integration. The calculation results show that the coma-free lens is superior to the hyperbolic lens in the imaging performance. The coma-free lens can contain more pixels under the condition that the beam size and beam quality are almost constant over the range of angles scanned and the differences among beams gain less 1.8 dB. The aperture efficiency and directivity are also presented.

Notes: Abstract A Ka-band microstrip circulator, using ferrite with 4π M=5000 G, have been developed. By optimizing the circulator configuration, broadband n=2 Chebyshev response performance are obtained over 7 GHz bandwidth. The circulator have isolation of greater than 15 dB, and insertion loss of less than 1.0 dB.

Notes: Abstract The scattering of a Gaussian beam by a ferrite cylinder is analyzed using two methods. The spatial pictures in the amplitude of the total Gaussian beam near the cylinder resulting from the two methods are both clarified and compared. The scattering by a ferrite cylinder coating a dielectric sleeve is also presented.
