The molecular motions in poly(dimethyl siloxane) composites with aerosil containing adsorbed water, hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups on the surface were studied. The mobility of the adsorbed polymer chains is restricted substantially and depends on the nature of aerosil surface. The fast reorientational motions of unadsorbed chains are similar to those in the unfilled polymer. On the other hand, the slow diffusional motions are limited by numerous topological restrictions.

Die molekulare Beweglichkeit in Kompositen von Poly(dimethylsiloxan) mit Aerosilen, deren Oberfläche hydrophobe und hydrophile Gruppen sowie adsorbiertes Wasser enthält, wurde untersucht. Dabei konnte gezeigt werden, daß die Beweglichkeit adsorbierter Kettenglieder behindert ist und von der Natur der Füllstoffoberfläche abhängt. Schnelle Umorientierungsbewegungen von nichtadsorbierten Gliedern ähneln den analogen Bewegungen im Ausgangspolymer; langsame Diffusionsbewegungen sind dagegen wegen der zahlreichen sterischen Behinderungen stark eingeschränkt.
