Abstract A model for calculating the dynamics of axisymmetric shells of oriented fiberglass in the area of large deformations has been developed. The calculated results are compared with the experimental data on explosive loading of cylindrical one-layer fiberglass and two-layer (steel+fiberglass) shells. The loading is performed by the explosion of a compact charge located in the geometrical center of the shell. The suggested numerical model, which considers the decrease in the elastic modulus of the binder, depending on the current elastic energy stored in the material, allows us to obtain a satisfactory description of the shell behavior at different levels of loading.
