Abstract A method of analysing heart rhythm disturbances by observing theR-R interval in the ECG is described. Pulses are divided into normal and abnormal depending on whether or not they come within the pre-determined time range. Heart rhythm disturbances are expressed by dividing an arbitrary sequence into specific groups, namely interpolated extrasystoles, extrasystoles, tachycardia, blocked (single delayed) pulse, groups of delayed pulses and bradycardia. An information device, Andros R, incorporating the principles of this method, is described as well.
