    Notes: Summary.  Platinum and palladium dichlorides react readily with 2,2′-azoquinoxaline to give the di-μ-chloro-2,2′-azobis-(7,7′-bis-benzoyl-quinoxaline) diplatinum(II) and dipalladium(II) complexes. These crystalline complexes exhibit both metal-carbon binding and coordinate metal-nitrogene binding to azoquinoxaline.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung.  Protonierungsverhalten und Koordinationsfähigheit von vierzehngliedrigen Tetraazamacrocyclen an der Peripherie eines Phthalocyanins (L) sowie einer Modellverbindung mit gleicher makrocyclischer Struktur wurde in 0.3 M KCl-Lösung für Co2+, Ni2+ und Cu2+ potentiometrisch bestimmt. Das Protonierungsverhalten von L zeigt, daß die Basizität von drei sekundären Aminogruppen hoch und vergleichbar, die der vierten, wahrscheinlich bedingt durch gegenseitige Abstoßung der Ladungen, jedoch ziemlich schwach ist. Die Stabilitätskonstanten können aus den potentiometrischen Daten bestimmt werden. Für die jeweiligen macrocyklischen Liganden L′ an der Peripherie des Phthalocyanins wurden die Stabilitätskonstanten und das Verteilungsdiagramm für die Spezies in Lösung mit Hilfe des TITFIT-Programms bestimmt.
    Notes: Summary.  The protonation behaviour and coordination ability of 14-membered tetraaza macrocycles in the periphery of a phthalocyanine core (L) together with a model compound of identical macrocyclic structure towards Co2+, Ni2+, and Cu2+ has been studied potentiometrically at 25°C in 0.3 M KCl solution. The protonation pattern of L indicates that the basicities of three secondary amino groups are high and comparable; the fourth one is of rather low basicity, probably due to the effect of charge repulsion. It is shown that the potentiometric data for the phthalocyanine derivative can be used to estimate the stability constants and the distribution diagram for the species in solution by treating each macrocycle L′ at the periphery of the phthalocyanine core separately using the program TITFIT.

    Notes: Summary.  A new vic-dioxime ligand, N,N′-bis-(8-salicylideneimino-1-naphthyl)-diaminoglyoxime, has been synthesized from anti-dichloroglyoxime and 1-amino-8-salicylideneiminonaphthalene which has been prepared via the condensation product of 1,8-diaminonaphthalene and salicylaldehyde. The vic-dioxime ligand forms trinuclear complexes with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), and Pd(II). The uranyl complex of this ligand has a 2:1 metal-ligand ratio and a binuclear structure with μ-hydroxo bridges.

    Notes: Abstract A new soluble vic-dioxime ligand namely 1,4-bis(2′-hydroxyethyl)-2,3-bis(hydroxyimino)-5,6-diphenylpiperazine, (LH2) containing optically active centers has been prepared as a mixture of isomers from (CNO)2 and N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)stilbendiamine (1) which has been made by the reduction of the condensation of the product of benzaldehyde and 2-aminoethanol in the presence of aluminum amalgam. N,N-coordinated planar metal complexes of this ligand have been synthesized with NiII, CuII, CoII, PdII and UVIO2. Oxidation of (LH)2Co in the presence of a base, such as pyridine, leads to an octahedral complex (LH)2CopyCl containing pyridine and chloride as axial ligands in addition to vic-dioxime ligands. The structures of the ligand and its complexes are proposed on the basis of elemental analysis, 1H-n.m.r., mass, i.r. and u.v.–vis. spectral data.

    Notes: (18-Crown-6)-bridged phthalocyanine network polymers 4-8 as well as a low-molecular-weight model compounds with only one phthalocyanine unit (3a, b) were prepared from tetracyanodibenzo-18-crown-6 (2a). The cyano end groups were partially converted into imido groups during the cyclotetramerization reaction, as detected from the IR spectra. In order to obtain structurally uniform compounds with the same end groups, the —C ≡ N groups were hydrolyzed into imido groups with conc. sulfuric acid. The metal-free phthalocyanine polymer 4a was obtained by the reaction of 2a either with hydroquinone or PbO in ethylene glycol. The chlorides of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) were empolyed in order to synthesize the corresponding metal-phthalocyanine polymer, and Fe(CO)5 was used for the preparation of the Fe-analog 7a. For the preparation of the Co-containing polymer 8a ammonium molybdate has to be added as catalyst. The selectivity of 7a for Rb+ was found to be highest in the heterogeneous phase extraction experiments. Polymers 4-8 are also capable of binding silver from aqueous and methanolic solutions.

    Notes: The new vic-dioxime ligand 2 (LH4) carrying a 14-membered N2O2 macrocycle has been prepared. Mononuclear complex (LH3)2Ni, trinuclear complexes (LH)2Cu3, (LH)2Co3, (LH)2-Pd3, and (LH)2Co3(py)3Cl3, dinuclear complex (LH3)2-(UO2)2(OH)2, and pentanuclear complex [L2Cu5(phen)2]-(NO3)2 have been synthesized from LH4. The electrochemical properties of tri- and pentanuclear complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. For (LH)2Cu3 two reduction waves appeared at 0.215 and -0.870 V. [L2Cu5(phen)2](NO3)2 exhibited four reduction waves at 0.200, -0.025, -0.670, and -1.170 V.
