    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die Notwendigkeit von Dünnschicht-Standards für die XRF-Analyse dünner Proben und die an solche Standards zu stellenden Anforderungen wurden dargelegt. Ein Verfahren für die Herstellung von Multi-Eleraent-Standards durch Bildung einer polymeren Schicht aus einer wäßrigen Lösung eines Polymeren, die die betreffenden Elemente und Spuren eines kurzlebigen radioaktiven Elementes enthält, wurde beschrieben. Versuchsresultate, die die Homogenität und Genauigkeit solcher Standardproben zeigen, wurden mitgeteilt. Die für die Herstellung solcher Standards wichtigen und zu beachtenden Umstände wurden erörtert.
    Notes: Summary The necessity to prepare thin-film standards for use in XRF analysis of thin samples, and the requirements they must meet, are outlined. A method for the preparation of multielement standards by formation of a polymer film from a water-soluble polymer solution containing the elements concerned and a short-lived radioactive tracer is presented. Experimental results illustrating the homogeneity and accuracy of such standards are given. Precautions to take and pitfalls to avoid in the preparation of such standards are discussed and illustrated.

    Notes: Multielement thin film standards are made by mixing a solution of different elements and a radioactive tracer (24Na) with the water soluble polymer mehtylcellulose. A film is produced by spreading the liquid mixture evenly on glass plates and letting it dry. Standards of the desired size and shape are punched out. The concentrations of the elements are calculated from the tracer activity. Ten sets of standards containing the elements Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl, K, Cs, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, Ag, Cd, Sn, Sb, Ba and Pb in different groupings have been prepared. Homogeneity and accuracy oof the standards are extensively discussed. The accuracy is also estimated by the alalysis of the standards using several techniques. The precision of the analysis factors derived from the standards is better than 1-2%, while the accuracy for the elements Al, Cl, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Se, Br, Sb, Ba and Pb is found to be better than 5%.

    Notes: Correction for the absorption of the X-rays in aerosol loaded filters can be based on the measurement of the front-to-back intensity ratio. Experimental verification that an accurate and precise absorption correction can be obtained is given. The ‘two-lines’ method based on the accurate measurement of the lead Mα to Lβ intensity ratio in actual samples is used. The distribution of the aerosol in the filter is exponential with a variable gradient.
