Abstract:
Notes:
Abstract One of the most important and least understood problems in medicine is that of what variables govern the rate and the quality of the wound healing process. It is highly desirable to know the effects of external or internal agents such as drugs, radiation, and physical irritants on the healing process with a view toward accelerating and improving it. Since mechanical strength is a basic criterion, it is important that standardized methods for the physical testing, analysis and interpretation of results be devised. This paper presents a basic technique for the determination of the mechanical properties of wounded and unwounded skin.
