Notes: 1-Chloro-2,3-epoxypropane (CEP) reacts with excess of amines giving linear, thermally stable amino polymers, useful as dyeability modifiers for synthetic fibers. The polycondensation of 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane with amines is described, and preparations of such polymers are given: the polycondensations are carried out in one or two steps. In the first step, a mixture of polymeric aminochlorohydrins is formed. Alkalies added at the end of the polycondensations act as regulators of the molecular weight of the polymers obtained. The amino polymers, prepared with an excess of amines, have high melting temperatures, without decomposition; the weight losses in air at 250°C and 300°C are lower than those of the corresponding amino polymers prepared with deficient amounts of amines; the change of inherent viscosities due to thermal treatments is generally low.

Description / Table of Contents: Kondensationspolymere and Copolymere wurden durch Umsetzung von N.N′-Bis-(2.3-epoxypropyl)-piperazin mit aliphatischen und aromatischen primären Aminen sowie mit aliphatischen, aromatischen, cycloaliphatischen und heterocyclischen bisekundären Diaminen erhalten.
Notes: Condensation polymers and copolymers are obtained by reaction of N.N′-bis(2.3-epoxypropyl)piperazine with primary aliphatic and aromatic amines, and with aliphatic, aromatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic disecondary diamines. The reaction rates of the polycondensations of N.N′-bis(2.3-epoxypropyl)piperazine with primary amines rise with decreasing the chain length. In hydrocarbon solvents polycondensation reactions proceed slowly whereas in alcohols they are accelerated.Activation energies are 11.6 kcal/mole in the polycondensation with trans 2.5-dimethylpiperazine, 12.6 kcal/mole with n-dodecylamine, 16.5 kcal/mole with piperazine.
