Notes:
The electroconductive polymer poly[(2,2′-dithienyl)-5,5′-diylvinylene] (1) was prepared by both electrochemical and chemical methods starting from trans-di(2-thienyl)ethylene (2). The electrochemically prepared material showed electrical conductivities of up to 40 Ω-1 · cm-1; the neutral, chemically prepared polymer was droped with iodine or arsenic pentafluoride but the conductivities were low. The experimental procedures are described and an interpretation of the results is given.
