Summary The strains no. 6 and Tissier of Bacterium bifidum (B.b.) show carbon dioxyde production when anaerobic growing in potatoe solution and liver solution according to Mayer. In Tomarelli-solution and in liver-solution the same strains take up oxygen during multiplication of the cells. This is a confirmation of our former results: B.b. develops gas and is able to grow in aerobic state. Nevertheless the biochemical reactions of CO2 production and O2 comsumption are unknown to us.

Zusammenfassung Die Stämme Nr. 6 und Tissier des Bacterium bifidum (B.b.) bilden bei anaerobem Wachstum in Kartoffel-und Leberlösung nach Mayer CO2. Kulturen der gleichen Stämme in Tomarelli-Lösung und in Leberlösung nehmen bei aerobem Wachstum O2 auf. Dies ist eine Bestätigung unserer früheren Ergebnisse: B.b. ist ein Gasbildner, der auch aerob wächst. Die biochemischen Reaktionen der CO2-Bildungen und des O2-Verbrauches sind uns allerdings unbekannt.
