    Notes: Rat's tongues were injured by cold and the reactive processes were observed by light and electron microscopy. Injured animals and untreated controls were injected with aurothiomalate and the cells in tongue muscles which contained gold were observed after increasing injection-sacrifice time intervals.In the very rapid regeneration, gold-containing macrophage-like cells fused with each other and with well preserved parts of myofibers. The selectivity of gold localization suggested, at least morphologically, a macrophage to myoblast development. The possible factors affecting the rate of muscle regeneration have been discussed with special reference to the nature of the injurious stimulus and the type of cellular response.

    Description / Table of Contents: Résumé On traite ici des maladies les plus sérieuses du bétail qui ont été récemment introduites dans des zones indemnes et des facteurs généraux impliqués dans cette transmission de territoire à territoire. Une mention particulière est faite à propos des réunions internationales déjà réunies pour discuter des dangers de la transmission des maladies grâce au commerce des animaux vivants, des produits de l’industrie animale et de toutes les issues d’origine animale. Quelques recommandations applicables au trafic des animaux vivants sont discutées ici. Un certain nombre de facteurs contribuant à la réduction des risques sont décrits ainsi que les différentes méthodes de transport des animaux.
    Abstract: Resumen Se hace referencia a las infecciones mas serias del ganado, las cuales han sido recientemente introducidas en areas libres de ellas y a los factores generales involucrados en la transmisión interterritorial. Se incluya una nota sobre reuniones internacionales ilevadas a cabo para discutir los peligros de transmisión de enfermedad a travez del comercio de animales vivos, productos de origen animal y fomites afines. Se discuten algunas recomendaciones aplicables al tráfico de animales vivos. También se describen un número de factores, pertinentes a reducir los riesgos y se consideran los varios métodos de movimiento.
    Notes: Summary Reference is made to the more serious infections of livestock which have recently been introduced into areas free of them and to the general factors involved in interterritorial transmission. A note is included on international meetings held to discuss the dangers of transmission of disease through trade in live animals, animal products, and allied fomites. Some recommendations applicable to traffic in live animals are discussed. A number of factors relevant to reducing the risks are described and the various methods of movement are considered.

    Abstract: Sumario Se revisan los principales factores que deben ser tomados en consideración cuando se trata de planificar y operar estaciones cuarentenárias para el ganado. Estos son establecidos para aquellas regiones del mundo en las cuáles algunas de las enfermedades del ganado de mayor importancia todavia existen y muchos de estos principios tienen también una mas amplia aplicación. También se dán los requerimientos básicos para las instalaciones y alrededores y se hace una breve referencia a los factores importantes para un manejo eficiente de las instalaciones.
    Notes: Summary The principal factors that must be taken into consideration when planning and operating quarantines for livestock are reviewed. These are set out for those regions of the world in which some of the more significant diseases of livestock are still present, but most of the principles also have a wider application. Basic requirements for the premises and surrounding areas are listed, and brief reference is made to important factors for efficient management.
