    Notes: Abstract A time and solvent saving method (accelerated solvent extraction, ASE) for the extraction of anionic surfactants as linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) and alkylphenols from sediments is presented. The analytes are extracted by methanol at 100° C and 150 atm within 10 min of static and 5 min of dynamic extraction. The presence of methanol and a maximum pressure of 150 atm are essential for the complete extraction of anionic surfactants, whereas the extraction of alkylphenols is independent of both parameters. The extraction of alkylphenolethoxylates yielded only unsatisfactor results. It was demonstrated that the ASE extraction is selective for LAS surfactants, while matrix substances, which are extracted by the methanol extraction and interfere with the target analytes during the HPLC-run, remain in the sample. Thus, a further clean-up procedure of the ASE extract is not necessary.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die Infrarotspektren von nahezu 50 Enamin-β-carbonestern werden untersucht und die Bandenzuordnungen im NH- und Enaminestergebiet eingehend diskutiert. Charakteristische Absorptionsbanden, die auf einen meßbaren Ketimin-Gehalt im potentiellen Ketimin-Enamin-Gleichgewicht schließen lassen, sind in keinem Falle nachweisbar. Andererseits deuten die bathochrom verschobenen Schwingungsfrequenzen im Bereich der Ketonabsorption auf einen hohen Anteil zwitterionischer Grenzstrukturen hin. Dieser Befund führt zu einem bipolaren, „quasiaromatischen“ Strukturmodell mit weitgehendem Bindungslängenausgleich. Die Messungen in protonenhaltigen Lösungsmitteln zeigen, daß die Salzbildung dieser Substanzklasse nach dem Reaktionsschema der C β -Protonisierung unter Bildung eines Ketimmoniumsalzes verläuft.
    Notes: Summary Infrared spectra of nearly 50 different enamine-β-carboxylic esters have been studied in detail and the classification of the NH- and enamine-ester bands is discussed in order to eliminate hitherto existing inconsistencies. No characteristic absorption bands, from which the existence of a measurable amount of ketimine in the potential ketimine-enamine equilibria could be deduced, have been found for the studied type of enamines. However, the bathochromic shift of the vibration frequencies in the range of the ketone absorption indicates the existence of a high degree of zwitterionic resonance structures. This result leads to a structure of bipolar and “quasi-aromatic” character with a nearly complete equalization of all bond lengths. Measurements in solvents containing protons show that the salt formation of the studied enamine type follows the reaction mechanism of C β -protonation forming a ketimmonium salt.

    Notes: The metabolism of 17α-methyl-17β-hydroxy-1,4-androstadien-3-one (dianabol) in human adults has been studied in detail by computer aided capillary gas chromatography mass spectrometry. After oral administration to man six metabolites were determined in the free fraction of the urine samples, the structures of which have been identified as 17-epidianabol, three isomers of 6-hydroxydianabol, 17α-methyl-17β-hydroxy-1,4,6-androstatrien-3-one (Δ6-dianabol) and 18-nor-17,17-dimethyl-1,4,13(14)-androstatrien-3-one, respectively. In agreement with previous observations no measurable amounts of the administered drug itself could be detected in any of the urine samples investigated. The mass spectra of all metabolites and the main fragmentation processes are discussed in detail.
