Description / Table of Contents:
Summary A sensitive test for Desmodur H in air is described. The material is absorbed in a mixture of equal parts of dimethyl sulfoxide and 0.1N hydrochloric acid and the hexamethylenediamine obtained by saponification is brought into reaction with 1-fluor-2,4-dinitrobenzene. The resulting condensation product is extracted by means of tetrachlorethane and photometrized at 366 nm. Details of the method, which probably can be translated to other aliphatic isocyanates, are mentioned. The sensitivity of the detection procedure is 0.002 ppm.
