    Notes: The mean values 〈D〉 and 〈D2〉 of the thickness D of antiphase domains in an ordered Ni3(Fe0.76, Al0.24) alloy have been calculated by making the assumption that each type of adjacent domain structure is equally probable. These values deduced from the slope of the Fourier transform of the 100 intensity profile and of its integral breadth are in good agreement with those obtained by using the thickness repartition calculated in the way suggested by Cheary, R. W. & Grimes, N. W. [Acta Cryst. (1972). A 28, 454–458].

    Notes: Coincidence-site lattice interfaces (CSLI) are frequently observed in crystals where a rigid framework remains invariant on both sides of the interface. They also seem to minimize the interface energy, for example, in metals where, empirically, the greater the density of the coincidence-site lattice the more stable the grain boundary becomes. Group-theory considerations allow the determination of all the possible interface operations which leave a given sublattice invariant. A classification of these CSLI with respect to the number of equivalent sublattices they leave invariant is a guide for the prediction of the most stable type of interfaces with respect to the sublattice considered. Examples from different types of crystals illustrate the method, which also applies for translation boundaries, twins and grain boundaries.

    Notes: Short-range order parameters were obtained for a single crystal of 62Ni3Fe quenched from above Tc. These are the first absolute measurements of diffuse elastic neutron scattering complete enough to separate the effects of local order and atomic displacements (up to quadratic terms) and indicate that neutrons are ideally suited for such studies. The results are compared to those obtained with X-rays. The short-range order intensity of Ni3Fe is similar in shape to that for Cu3Au but in this alloy it is due to the plate-like nature of ordered domains, not the antiphase domain boundaries which are present in such regions in Cu3Au.

    Notes: The 001 X-ray line profile of Ni3Fe1−xAlx ordered alloys is analysed by taking into account the variation of the structure factor along the profile. Between the 001 and 002 reciprocal nodes, this variation is steep enough to give a significant modification of the mean thickness of the ordered domains in the [001] direction.

A unique thickness distribution function f(t) of the enantiomorphous ordered domains has been obtained.     Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Mechanisms involved in the formation of primary or secundary dolomites are not yet completely elucidated. Laboratory syntheses involve conditions that are often far from natural conditions. We tried to see if a detailed structural analysis of limestone-dolomite boundaries would provide clues on those mechanisms. Two „fronts“ have been studied by EDTA titration, X ray diffractometry, electronic microprobe and mass spectrometry (C18/O16 ratio). The results show a very sharp variation of the magnesium contents (about a micron) and indicate the existence of states of very low order.
    Abstract: Résumé Les mécanismes mis en jeu dans la formation des dolomites, primaires ou secondaires ne sont pas encore complètement élucidés. Les synthèses effectuées au laboratoire correspondent à des conditions souvent assez éloignées des conditions naturelles. Nous avons tenté de voir si l'étude structurale fine des contacts calcairedolomite ne pouvait pas donner des renseignements sur ces mécanismes. Deux fronts ont été étudiés jusqu'à présent, par dosages complexométriques, diffraction des rayons X, microsonde électronique et spectrométrie de masse (rapport O18/O16). Les résultats obtenus montrent une variation extrêment brutale de la composition en magnésium (sur un micron environ) et l'existence d'états d'ordre très imparfaits.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Der in der Bildung der primären und sekundären Dolomite in Aktion gesetzte Mechanismus, ist noch nicht bis ins Letzte aufgeklärt. Die im Labor gemachten Synthesen sind in ihrer Beschaffenheit ziemlich weit von den natürlichen Bildungsbedingungen entfernt. Wir haben zu sehen versucht, ob die feine Untersuchung der Kalk-Dolomit-Kontakt-Struktur etwas über diesen Mechanismus aussagen kann. Zwei „Fronten“ sind bis jetzt untersucht worden durch die EDTA-Titration, Röntgenstralenbeugung, elektronische Mikrosonde und Massenspektrometrie (O18/O16-Verhältnis). Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse zeigen eine scharfe Veränderung des Magnesium-Gehalts (ungefähr über 1μ) und eine sehr unvollkommene Anordnung.
