Conclusions 1. Spot-welded joints have a comparatively low level of endurance under acoustic loading. The nominal endurance limit for welded specimens of D16T aluminum alloy on a 108 cycle base does not exceed 1.5 kgf/ mm2, and for OT4-1 titanium alloy specimens on a 108 cycle base it is 5 kgf/mm2. 2. Fatigue endurance of glued and welded D16T alloy specimens is an order of magnitude greater than for welded joints and is at the level of glued and riveted, and automatically riveted joints. The fatigue endurance of OT4-1 titanium alloy glued and welded specimens is 2.5–12 times greater than for welded joints, and the level of improvement depends on the type of glue. Best results are obtained with glue type VK-36. 3. Technological factors such as surface preparation, type of glue, and the presence of defects at spot welds, have a greater effect on fatigue endurance of joints. The optimum preparation method is etching with passivation around the weld and anodizing with chromic acid beneath the glue. The method of prepararing glued and welded joints (welding through the glue or infilling) does not affect fatigue endurance with acoustic loading.
