Résumé On étudie, après explantation, la respiration et le poids de la paroi du corps, des ovaires, des glandes séricigènes et du corps adipeux au cours des métamorphoses de Bombyx mori. On définit la respiration intrinsèque des organes comme la respiration qu'ils manifestent en explantation. Il apparaît alors que la somme des respirations intrinsèques équivaut a la respiration durant une partie de la vie nymphale seulement. La courbe en U est la résultante complexe de processus de nature fondamentalement distincte, parmi lesquels interviennent d'une part des transferts de matière (qui traduisent l'ensemble histolyse-histogenèse dans le système clos que constitue la nymphe), d'autre part des mécanismes actifs de réglages, vraisemblablement d'origine neuroendocrine.

Summary During Bombyx mori metamorphosis, respiration and weight of serical glands, adipose tissue, ovaries and body walls have been studied after explantation. An intrinsic respiration of organs is defined as oxygen consumption of these organs when explanted. The addition of this intrinsic respiratory rate from different explanted organs gives values practically equivalent to nymphal respiration during a part only of pupal life. The whole of the observations leads to the conclusion that U-shaped curve is a complex resultant between fundamentally distinct processes among which: transfers of substances from one organ to another which express the whole of histolysis and histogenesis phenomena in a closed system such as a nymph; active regulative mecanisms of probably neuroendocrine source.
