Notes: The joint product state distribution of coincident fragment pairs formed in the same elementary photodissociation process has been determined. This correlation between quantum state populations of two molecular products has been measured by high resolution Doppler spectroscopy in conjunction with level-specific detection of the ejected photofragments. One product molecule, formed in a specific quantum state, is excited by laser induced fluorescence and the wing of the corresponding Doppler profile is analyzed to determine the product state distribution of the partner fragment. In the photodissociation of jet-cooled hydrogen peroxide at 193 nm two OH partner radicals are formed with comparable angular momenta. For a specific rotation of one hydroxyl radical the product state distribution of the partner fragment is centered at about the same rotation with a width of only a few rotational quanta. The orbital angular momentum is of the order of 1 (h-dash-bar) and the impact parameter is extremely small. Experimentally observed joint product state distribution and trajectory calculations on ab initio potential energy surfaces are in excellent agreement.

Notes: Summary In this report a conception is represented to solve contact problems with friction between elastically and plastically deformable bodies. Several different accesses known from the literature are evaluated briefly. A general constitutive friction law — based on the v. Mises flow-theory and proposed e.g. by Fredriksson, Baaijens and others — is specified for characteristic cases of application. This law is favoured for the description of friction phenomena in metal forming processes. It includes the Coulomb-friction law as a special case. The report contains a new index-formulation of the most important relations of this general theory expecially suitable for their implementation in the FIDEFA/KONTAKT Finite Element programme. Moreover, relatively simple equations for its application are developed, and a possibility of the parameter identification is discussed in connection with experiments.

Description / Table of Contents: By heating mixtures of Li2O and Bi2O3 in O2 atmosphere, the bismutates(V) Li3BiO4. Li5BiO5, and Li7BiO6 have been prepared; hydrolysis of these salts yield the metabismutate LiBiO3 · aq.In the case of BaO/Bi2O3 mixtures, complete oxidation to Bi(V) at 950-1000°C is only achieved if BaO:Bi2O3 ≥ 5:1. The most basic compound being obtained is Ba7(BiO6)2. If the mentioned ratio is ≤ 4, Bi(III)-containing reaction products result. For Ba: Bi = 1-3.5, one single phase which is isomorphous with (NH4)3FeF6 exists; the same structure have also Ba2LaBiO6 and BaBiO3 ( = Ba2BiIIIBiVO6).In the system Na2O/Bi2O5, Na5BiO5 and, probably, Na7BiO6 occur in addition to the well-known Na3BiO4.

Description / Table of Contents: The coloured uranates(V) Li3UO4, Li7UO6, and Na3UO4 (the latter one being probably the most basic compound in the system Na2O—U2O5) have been thermally prepared Their properties are described. Li7UO6 is isotypic with other compounds having the general formula Li7AVO6 (A = Sb, Bi, Nb, Ta, Ru, Os); its powder diagram is very similar with those of Li8AIVO6 compounds (A = Sn, Pb, Zr, Hf, Ir, Pt).Further uranates(V) have been obtained from UO2, Li2O and Na2O, respectively, and by reduction of Li2UO4 and Na2UO4 by means of H2. Alkali uranates(IV) seem to be unstable.

Notes: Static and dynamic light scattering measurements were performed on a glass-forming polymer, poly(methyl-p-tolylsiloxane) (PMpTS; Tg=-17°C), in a temperature range of 30°C to 120°C. It was found that long-range density fluctuations, so-called clusters, are observed in this polymer. They are characterized by “excess” angular-dependent isotropic scattered intensity and additional slow decay in the photon correlation function. These properties are generally observed in low molecular weight glass formers as well as in glass-forming polymers. In addition, we found that the clusters completely disappear above about 90°C. The kinetics of the cluster growth was also studied by temperature jump experiments. During the cluster formation process after the temperature jump, we measured the angular-dependent polarized scattered intensities, and the photon correlation function as a function of annealing time. We discuss the cluster growth kinetics based on these results, especially the time evolution of the correlation length ξOZ evaluated using the Ornstein-Zernike formula, the isotropic scattering intensity IOZ(0) at q=0, and the correlation time τcl of the cluster decay. Finally, we briefly discuss some properties of the equilibrated clusters, which are well reproducible.
