    Notes: Summary. Four α-hydroxy-β,β,β-trichloroethylamino-1,2,4-triazoles were prepared by the reaction of chloral hydrate with the corresponding aminotriazole and tested for herbicidal activity.The introduction of the α-hydroxy-β,β,β-trichloroethyl group into the aminotriazole molecule increased the activity of the parent compound. The increase in activity was slight with the highly active 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole but was more marked with amino 1,2,4-triazoles of low activity. The symptoms resembled those of the simultaneous action of 3-amino-l,2,4-triazole with chloral hydrate or trichloroacetic acid.

    Notes: Summary The effect of the insecticide Temik on the persistence of the herbicides Cotoran and Cobex was investigated in cultivated cotton fields. Temik was applied to the soil which had also been treated with Gotoran or Cobex. Residues were determined at 15 day-intervals for four months. Temik was found to inhibit the degradation of both compounds as long as it persisted. As Temik disappeared the degradation of Cotoran and Cobex increased, attaining after the 15th day the rates shown by Cotoran and Cobex when applied in isolation.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die Untersuchungen umfaßten folgende 6 Predatoren-Arten:Orius laevigatus Fieb.,O. albidipennis Reut. (Hem., Anthocoridae), —Chrysoperla carnea Steph. (Neur., Chrysopidae),—Coccinella undecimpunctata L.,Scymnus syriacus Marsh.,S. interruptus Goeze (Col., Coccinellidae). Es wurde festgestellt, daß diese 6 Insektenarten auf den Baumwolle-Pflanzen während der letzten April- oder ersten Mai-Woche erschienen. Ihre Populationen wuchsen während des Mai bis Mitte Juni und verringerten sich danach bis Ende Juni, Anfang Juli.Orius spp. machte mehr als 50% der Gesamt-Predatorenpopulation aus. Die Daten zeigen, daß die Anwendung von Kelthane-S und Methomyl gegen Milben und Blattläuse die Predatoren-Population um 10,6–17,9% reduzierte. Die gleichen Predatoren-Arten wie in der Frühsaison wurden auch in der Spätsaison festgestellt, mit Ausnahme vonC. undecimpunctata, der in der Spätsaison fehlte.
    Notes: Abstract The output of inspection resulted in the following common predators:Orius laevigatus Fieb.,Orius albidipennis Reut. (Hem., Anthocoridae);Chrysoperla carnea Steph. (Neur., Chrysopidae);Coccinella undecimpunctata L.,Scymnus syriacus Mars,Scymnus interruptus Goeze (Col., Coccinellidae). It was found that the 6 insect species appeared on the cotton plants during the last week of April or the first week of May. The population increased gradually during May and the first two weeks of June then decreased during the second two weeks of June and the first week of July.Orius spp. constitutes more than 50% of the inspected species. Data show that application of kelthane-S and methomyl against mites and aphids slightly reduced the population of these predators, percent reduction ranged between 10.6–17.9%. The same species previously inspected during the early season were found during the second half of the season, exceptC. undecimpunetata.

    Notes: Abstract The toxicity of cypermethrin, deltamethrin, fenpropathrin, fenvalerate, methomyl and kelthane-s against the egg stage and the 1st larval instar ofChrysoperla carnea (Steph.) revealed that deltamethrin exhibited magnitude bad side effects against the eggs (LC90=3.35 ppm) as compared with the safest compound kelthane-s (LC90=144 ppm); the figures of the other tested toxicants ranged between 17.6 and 109.2 ppm. It was found that the larval stage needed higher concentrations to achieve similar mortality percentages. LC90 values ranged between 72.2 and 1,176 ppm. Ranking of toxicity was, however, similar to that of ovicidal action.
