Zusammenfassung In 4 Jahren wurde bei 90 Patienten mit inoperablem Rectumcarcinom die Kryotherapie mit einem geschlossenen N2-System und einer Sondentemperatur von -160°C durchgeführt. In 49% wurde ein Erfolg, in 31 % ein Teilerfolg und in 20 %. ein Mißerfolg festgestellt. Bei 12 % kam es zu Komplikationen wie Blutung, Stenose, Infektion, Perforation. Trotz der guten Steuerbarkeit der Methode, ist die Kryotherapie nur als palliative Maßnahme anzusehen. Bei lokal destruierenden Tumoren der Körperoberfläche konnte durch Kryotherapie subjektive Besserung und Erleichterung der Pflege erzielt werden.

Summary Cryotherapy has been used in 90 patients with inoperable rectal carcinoma since 1976. A closed circuit system with liquid nitrogen and temperatures of -160° C at the probe tip was used. The percentage of success was 49 %, partial success 31 % and failure 20 %. In 12 % of the patients complications like bleeding, stenosis, infection were seen. Cryotherapy should be restricted to patients with inoperable condition. Satisfying palliative local results can be achieved too in other destructive growing tumours.
