Description / Table of Contents:
Protection of free weathering concrete surfacesA bituminous sealing agent for concrete may be applied to moist surfaces at temperatures between 5 and 50 °C. Because of its competition (bituminous matter be dissolved in a solvent, with plastifying polymer additions) the coatings of the new products are characterized by excellent adhesion which is not diminished by moisture contained in a concrete (up to 20% residual moisture). The high elongation (up to 300%) is an essential advantage because it enables cracks in concrete to be bridged. The coatings are resistant to abrasion and erosion and do not flow from a vertical or inclined surface even at higher temperatures. The protective effect is not prejudiced by longterm exposure to industrial atmosphere, UV radiation and ozone. Addition of biocides prevents plant roots from growing into the coat.
Notes:
