Notes: [Auszug] A catalyst was prepared by impregnating silica gel with sufficient ferric nitrate solution enriched in iron-57 to produce a 3 weight per cent sample of iron on silica gel. After calcining in air at 500 C the catalyst was placed in a thin window glass cell and reduced by alternately adding hydrogen ...

Notes: [Auszug] AMORPHOUS boron filaments are promising candidates for the reinforcement of high performance filament plastic composite structures. To guide the selection of resin components, which must have adequate adhesion to the filaments, some knowledge of the surface properties of boron is required. Using ...

Notes: [Auszug] I CAN endorse all that Sir J. H. de Villiers says concerning the sense of smell in the wild bees of the Cape. The aversion they have to sweating horses is well known, as also to the scent of chopped carrots. The following instances of this have come under my own notice:— A party of young ...

Notes: Abstract The M17SW molecular cloud core has been mapped at high resolution in the C17OJ = 3 → 2 transition and in 450, 600, 800, 1100 and 1300µm continuum emission, using the JCMT. The clumpy nature of the cloud core is clearly revealed and the northern condensation has been resolved into 3 main clumps, each of which lies close to an H2O maser, suggesting that they may contain young embedded stellar objects.
