A computer aided simulation technique based on the upper bound theorem is developed in order to analyse three-dimensional metal flows of workpieces in various extrusion processes. The developed method is applied to simulations of forward extrusions of tubes through bridge dies. The effects of die geometry on extrusion pressure, geometries of dead zone and plastic zone and three-dimensional flow of workpiece are calculated. The results are compared with experimental measurments and fairly good agreement between them is found.
