    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Ein einfaches, von Hand zu bedienendes Gerät für die Gleichstrom-polarographie wurde beschrieben, das sich aus üblichen Laboratoriums-einrichtungen zusammenstellen läßt. Dessen Empfindlichkeit ist auf ± 0,5 mV Spannung bzw. ± 0,005μA Stromstärke einstellbar. ppm-Mengen Cd und Pb in Nahrungsmitteln und Getränken lassen sich hiermit bestimmen.
    Notes: Summary A simple manual d. c. polarographic apparatus is described which can be assembled from ordinary laboratory equipment. The sensitivity of this apparatus can reach ± 0.5 mV in voltage and ± 0.005μA in current. Using this set up, trace amounts of cadmium and lead in foods and beverages can be determined at the ppm region.

    Notes: Abstract Methods for trace analysis of chromium as Cr3+ were investigated, using differential pulse polarography in various media. Determination at the ng/ml-μg/ml range can be carried out in KCl/HCl, KCNS/HOAc, and other media. Total concentration of chromium in a solution containing Cr3+ and HCrO 4 − can be determined in KCNS/HOAc, and it is found that HCrO 4 − can be converted quantitatively to Cr3+. The relative quantity of HCrO 4 − and Cr3+ can be determined by the difference between the total chromium concentration and the concentration of HCrO 4 − . The sensitivity (12.5 ng/ml) and accuracy of this method is better than the method that determines total chromium as HCrO 4 − .

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Ein einfaches Verfahren zur amperometrischen Bestimmung von Mikrogrammengen Pb, Hg, Cd und Tl durch Titration mit ÄDTA wurde beschrieben. Bei Verwendung von 0,5 ml Probelösung und 10−5 M ÄDTA-Lösung können die genannten Metallionen in der Größenordnung von 1 ppm bestimmt werden. Die Genauigkeit beträgt ±5%.
    Notes: Summary A simple procedure for the amperometric determination of lead, mercury, cadmium and thallium in theμg range by titration with EDTA is described. Using 0.5 ml of the test solution and 10−5 M EDTA, the minimum quantity of these metal ions that can be determined is about 1 ppm. The accuracy is within ±5%.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Gemüse, Konserven und Seefische wurden analytisch mit Amperometrie und AAS auf Pb, Hg, Cd und Tl untersucht. Um die Konzentration der einzelnen Metallionen zu bestimmen, wurden bei der amperometrischen Titration Maskierungsmittel verwendet. Die Ergebnisse der beiden Methoden stimmen gut überein.
    Notes: Summary Vegetables, canned food, and marine fishes were analyzed for lead, mercury, cadmium and thallium by amperometry and by atomic absorption spectrometry. Masking agents were used in the amperometric titration procedure in order to determine the concentration of the individual metal ions. The results from these two methods have been compared and found to be in good agreement with each other.

    Notes: Whilst the theoretical description of electrode processes is mainly concerned with thermodynamic functions such as energy, enthalpy, entropy and volume, very few experimental determinations of these important quantities have been made. This paper describes the theoretical significance of experimental values of the temperature and pressure coefficients of electrode processes. Particular importance is attached to (1) the equilibrium surface excess volumes and entropies and (2) the real and ideal activation parameters associated with charge-transfer reactions.
