Die Ultraschallgeschwindigkeit und die isentropische Kompressibilität wäßriger Lösungen von Poly(acrylsäure) mit unterschiedlicher Molekülmasse wurden gemessen. Die Ergebnisse werden auf Basis der Wechselwirkungen zwischen Polymer- und Wassermolekülen diskutiert. Eine Gleichung, die die Korrelation zwischen isentropischer Kompressibilität und Molekülmasse des-Polymers beschreibt, wird vorgeschlagen.

Ultrasonic velocity and isentropic compressibility of aqueous solutions of poly(acrylic acid) of various molecular weights and concentrations have been measured. The results are discussed on base of the interactions between polymer and water molecules. An equation correlating the isentropic compressibility and molecular weight of the polymer is suggested.
