360°C keinen Gewichtsverlust.
Notes: Various polyfunctional allyl compounds containing 4-oxycarbonylphthalimido units were prepared including allyl N-allyl-4-phthalimidecarboxylate (3), diallyl N-N′-alky-lenebis(4-phthalimidecarboxylates) 8a-c and alkylenebis(N-allyl-4-phthalimidecarboxylates) 9a-e and 11.These compounds were polymerized by heating them in the presence of dicumyl peroxide or benzoyl peroxide to afford network resins. The thermal stability of these resins was preliminarily investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TG). The resins from 9e and 11 had essentially no weight loss up to 390 and 360°C, respectively, in nitrogen.

Notes: The reciprocity effect under intense illumination was studied with photocrosslinkable polyesters of p-phenylenebis(α-cyanobutadiene carboxylic acid) (I), m-phenylenebis(α-cyanobutadiene carboxylic acid) (II), and p-phenylenebis(acrylic acid) (III), with an argon ion laser as a light source. The reciprocal sensitivities of I, II, and III were 5.0, 1800, and 〉 105 mJ/cm2, respectively. II and III required sensitization to enhance their sensitivities to a level at which reciprocity effects could be measured. I obeyed the reciprocity law over a wide range of exposure times from seconds to microseconds. Both II′, a copolyester of II, and III showed a dramatic decrease of sensitivity in high-intensity/short-time exposure when sensitized by 9,10-phenanthraquinone and pyrylium salts.

Notes: Optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) and circular dichroism (CD) of poly(oxyisobutylidenecarbonyl) (II) were investigated and compared with those of its optically active oligomers (III). The two-term DRUDE equation was applied to analyze the ORD curves using n-π*- and π-π*-transition bands as the critical wavelengths, λ0 and λ1, respectively. No drastic difference in ORD curves between the polymer and oligomers was detected in chloroform, which suggests that the polymer has no special conformation. On the other hand, in dioxane and acetonitrile λ1 of the polymer II shows a red shift in comparison with that of its oligomers.

Notes: Abstract To assess the relationship between insulin-like growth factor II (IGF2) and H19 gene expression at the cellular level, we have examined the distribution of IGF2 and H19 mRNA by means of in situ hybridization in hepatic malignancies consisting of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocellular carcinoma (CCC), and metastatic liver cancer (MLC). In HCC, 15 of 27 tumors (56%) and 11 of 27 tumors (41%) demonstrated increased IGF2 and H19 gene expression, respectively. Of 16 HCCs with increased expression of either IGF2 or H19, 10 tumors coexpressed both transcripts at comparable levels. Moreover, the spatiotemporal distribution and the cellular localization of the two gene transcripts were almost identical, suggesting the presence of a reciprocal relation between IGF2 and H19. In addition, 5 HCCs showed increased IGF2 expression without concomitant H19 expression, whereas 1 HCC showed increased H19 expression without IGF2 transcripts. However, 11 HCCs showed no IGF2 or H19 expression. On the other hand, neither IGF2 transcripts nor H19 transcripts were detected in 2 CCCs or 10 MLCs studied. The data suggest that IGF2 and/or H19 gene expression may be characteristic of some HCCs.

The oligohydroxypivalate benzyl esters, in turn, were prepared by a stepwise method which involved the condensation of dichloroacetoxypivaloyl chloride with a preceding hydroxy terminated oligohydroxypivalate followed by removal of the dichloroacetyl group by mild alkaline hydrolysis. Melting points, infrared spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of the oligomers were studied.
