Description / Table of Contents:
Summary Contaminants of Spanish oil such as anilides and aniline, can be determined by gas chromatography with an electron-capture detector (ECD). After alkaline hydrolysis of anilides, the aniline is isolated by extraction with iso-octane in a Bleidner distillation/extraction head. The isolated aniline is brominated to the 2,4,6-tribromo-derivative. In two samples of adulterated oil 480 and 38.3 ppm of aniline were found.
