Abstract A method is presented for studying the cyclic strength and deformability of structural materials during two-frequency loading. This method allows one to simultaneously fix the hysteresis loop of the low and high frequency components of the cycle during the experiment. It alsows one to determine the total hysteresis loop of the complex two-frequency cycle. The experimental results on the cyclic inelasticity, strain, and fatigue failure of steels 20 and 08Kh18N12T during single-frequency loading of the low-frequency, single-frequency loading of the high frequency, and two-frequency loading with various load amplitude ratios are presented. An analysis of the results is given, and a comparison of the fatigue curves and cuclic strain diagrams under various loading regimes is made.
