Abstract An experimental study was made of wave phenomena on the surface of a liquid film freely flowing down the walls of a vertical channel in the range of Reynolds numbers for film flow (Re=Γ/η= 50–2500, where Γ is the mass spray density and η is the dynamic viscosity) at various distances from the entrance. The working fluid (water) was fed into the operating section at a temperature of 15–30 °C. The dependence of typical wave parameters on mode parameters was obtained.
