Description / Table of Contents:
Summary An emission spectrographic method for quantitative estimation of 19 impurities in manganese dioxide in the range 1–100 ppm is described. BaF2 (5%) is used as buffer for estimation of high volatile elements such as As, Pb, B and Cd. For low volatile elements like V, Ti, Cr and Fe, a mixture of sample with graphite (1∶1) is used. In both methods, 30 mg of the mixture is excited in 10 A d.c. arc for 20 see. Spectra are recorded on a 3.4 m JACO grating spectrograph with a reciprocal dispersion of 2.5 Å/mm. Ga 2450.07 Å and Mn 2551.8 Å and 3106.7 Å are used as internal standard lines. The average standard deviation for most of the elements is ±10%.
