Notes:
Summary Addition of small amounts of CaCl2 can induce calcium release from calciumfilled sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles. The time of onset and rate of calcium release in the vesicular preparations, which occurs when ionized Ca2+ in the medium is increased from 〈1 μM to 3–5 μM, are considerably slower than in skinned muscle fiber preparations.
