Notes: Abstract The reaction of the siloxyl containing ferrate [Fe(CO)3(η 1-dppm){Si(OMe)3}]−,1 (dppm = Ph2PCH2PPh2) with Sn(OAc)2(n-Bu)2 has yielded the new dimeric complex [Fe(CO)3(η 1-dppm){µ-Sn(n-Bu)2}]2, 3 in 89% yield. Compound3 was characterized crystallographically and was found to be a centrosym-etrical molecule with a rhomboidal Fe2Sn2 cluster at the center. Each iron atom contains meη 1-dppm ligand. Compound3 was found to react with [Pd(dmba) (µ-Cl)]2 (dmba=dimethylbenzylamine) to yield the new complexmer-[Fe(CO)3{Sn(n-Bu)2}(µ-dppm)Pd(dmba)Cl]2, 4 by attachment of a palla-dium grouping to each of the uncoordinated phosphorus atoms in 3. Crystal data for 3: space groupP $$\bar 1$$ ,a=11.399(2) Å, 6=15.98(3) Å, c=10.869(3) Å, α=94.10(2)°.β=100.56(2)°, γ=69.35(1)°,Z=2, 3533 reflections,R=0.034.

Notes: A new mixed metal titanate Ba3Fe24Ti7O53, 1 was obtained by heating stoichiometRic mixtures of BaCO3, Fe3O4 and TiO2 to 1375°C for 48 h. Compound 1 was characterized by single crystal x-ray diffraction analysis. Two of the barium ions lie in a network of channels in the bc crystallographic plane. The iron and titanium atoms were refined in a random distribution in 16 independent MO6 octahedral sites and 2 MO4 tetrahedral sites. Magnetization measurements reveal a strong magnetic ordering up to 600 K. M vs. H loop measurements show no hysteresis effects.

Notes: Two new compounds Cu4(AsO4)2O (1) and Ba2Cu7As6O24 (2) were obtained from a mixture of CuO and As2O5 · xH2O heated to 1090°C for 72 h in a BaCO3 flux. Compound 1 was obtained as dark green crystals, belonging to the orthorhombic crystal system. Compound 2 was obtained as light gray to colorless crystals belonging to the triclinic crystal system. The structure of 1 contains two copper ions with distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometries and a third with a distorted square pyramidal geometry. One ‚oxide‘ ion is surrounded by four copper ions in a distorted tetrahedral arrangement. Compounds 2 consists of two chains with alternating units of trigonal bipyramidal CuO5 and square planar CuO4 units, with the oxygen atoms derived from the AsO4 groups. Magnetic susceptibility measurements of 1 and 2 both show effective magnetic moments, μeff=1.90-1.95 B.M./Cu at 25°C, which is consistent with Cu2+ ions having one unpaired electron. Significant antiferromagnetic coupling was revealed by variable temperature measurements. At very low temperatures (15-25 K) samples of both 1 and 2 undergo a transition to a weak ferromagnetic state.

Description / Table of Contents: Strukturen und Charakterisierung von zwei neuen Oxiden vom Sr4PtO6-Typ: NaCa3IrO6 und NaCa3RuO6NaCa3IrO6 (I) und NaCa3RuO6 (II) kristallisieren mit trigonaler (rhomboedrischer) Symmetrie in der Raumgruppe R3c, Z = 6, I: a = 9,272(3) Å, c = 11,214(1) Å, II: a = 9,244(3) Å, c = 11,201(1) Å.
Notes: NaCa3IrO6 (I) and NaCa3RuO6 (II) crystallize with trigonal (rhombohedral) symmetry in the space group R3c, Z = 6, for I a = 9.272(3) Å, c = 11.214(1) Å; for II a = 9.244(3) Å, c = 11.201(1) Å. NaCa3IrO6 (I) and NaCa3RuO6 (II) are isotypic to compounds of the Sr4PtO6 structure type. The structures have been solved by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction data analysis with the reliability factors for I of R = 0.032 and Rw = 0.039; and the the reliability factors for II of R = 0.024 and Rw = 0.031. The structure consists of infinite chains of alternating face-sharing MO6 octahedra, where M=Ir or Ru, and NaO6 trigonal prisms. The chains are separated by the calcium cations.
