Summary 1. The urine of the octopus,Octopus hongkongensis (Hoyle), has been subjected to a qualitative analysis for 38 different elements. 2. Only 12 ions, namely, ammonium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, zinc, arsenate, bromide, chloride, fluoride, phosphate, and sulfate, were present in detectable amounts. 3. Quantitative measurements of these 12 ions were attempted, and the results were compared with sea water composition.
