Notes: The outdiffusion of boron, antimony, and phosphorus from the bare silicon wafer at 1200 °C, especially its dependence upon the annealing atmosphere, has been studied with spreading resistance and secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS). It is found that the boron outdiffusion proceeds when the crystal is annealed in hydrogen, but is completely suppressed in argon even if the doping concentration is as high as 3×1018 cm−3 and the annealing time is as long as 2 h. The dramatic dependence upon the atmosphere has not been observed for the other impurities and is temporarily related with the desorption process of boron atoms from the surface. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: A vicinal silicon (111) surface exhibits well defined single steps after being annealed at 1200 °C in hydrogen, which is in sharp contrast with step bunches featuring the surface annealed in argon. As a temporary explanation for its ability to unzip the step bunches, we suggest that hydrogen destroys the faulted triangles of a [112¯] step, eliminates this kind of step, and eventually leaves the single [1¯1¯2] steps alone behind on the surface. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.

Notes: The project of the comprehensive reform of Japanese insolvency law started in October 1996. After many enactments and amendments, there are now two types of judicial proceedings for personal insolvencies in Japanese insolvency law. The first category is straight bankruptcy proceedings in which the debtor can be discharged; the other is special Civil Rehabilitation proceedings for individual debtors. In this Article, I will first give a brief overview of the special Civil Rehabilitation proceedings for individual debtors (Part I), including a short description of two types of proceedings, and legislative issues. Then I will give a brief overview of major amendments of the Bankruptcy Law concerning individual bankruptcies (Part II), including amendments relating to the scope of exemption and discharge proceedings.

Notes: The oxidation behavior of tantalum diboride (TaB2) powder at high temperature wasinvestigated in order to determine the possibility of the use of advanced high temperature structuralmaterials. Unfortunately, monolithic TaB2 were known to be chemical stability up to hightemperatures. To date, there have been few reports regarding the properties of TaB2 ceramics. Thesamples were oxidized at room temperature to 1273 K for 5 minutes to 25 hours in air. The weightchanges were measured to estimate the oxidation resistance. The oxidation of samples oxidized forshort oxidation time of 5 minutes started at 873 K, and the weight gain increased with increasingoxidation temperature. On the other hand, at the oxidation time of above 1 hour, a maximum weightgain value at 973 to 1073 K was observed. However, even if the oxidation temperature was increasedan additional weight change slightly occurred. The weight gain of the sample oxidized at 1273 K for 5minutes to 25 hours was about 40 to 20 % of the theoretical oxidation mass change. According to thepowder X-ray diffraction date, the oxidized TaB2 sample was changed to Ta2O5 at 873 K. Finally, theTaB2 showed a good oxidation resistance at high temperature, because the surface film of tantalumoxide (Ta2O5) formed by oxidation acted as an oxidation resistant layer

Notes: Mechanochemical synthesis of zinc ferrite, ZnFe2O4, was attempted from a powdermixture of iron (III) oxide, alpha-Fe2O3 and zinc (II) oxide, ZnO. Nanocrystalline zinc ferrite,ZnFe2O4 powders were successfully synthesized only by milling for 30 hours. The X-raydiffraction spectrum of the as-milled powders (without heating) showed twelve ZnFe2O4 peaks andfour weak peaks of coexisting unreacted Fe2O3. The crystallite size of the mechanochemicallysynthesizedZnFe2O4 was 26.3 nm. Evidence of the ZnFe2O4 formation was absent for the powdersmilled for 10 and 20 hours; milling lowered the crystallinity of the starting materials. Heating aftermilling enhanced the formation of ZnFe2O4, the crystal growth of ZnFe2O4 and the unreactedstarting materials. The unreacted starting materials decreased their amounts by heating at highertemperatures

Notes: The Na-bentonite with contained smectite was fabricated in order to observe theirabsorption and preservation about water. Absorption of fabricated specimens in the water andpreservation of absorbed samples in the drying machine at 323 K was measured. It was obtained thatabsorption had been decreasing with increasing smectite. Absorption of As-received Na-bentonitewas higher than absorption of As-received smectite. The preservation has been also decreased withincreasing smectite was obtained. Notes: Biomaterials have been developed and used for bone grafting. Here, we study a fabricationof composite for bone tissue engineering by combining tricalcium phosphate and collagen. Thistricalcium phosphate and collagen composite material may be applicable for use as a bone substitute. The β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) is the one of the most investigated biomaterials due to itsbiocompatibility and good bioactivity. The β-TCP is used in a filling purpose to the bone defectregion such as bone fractures. It is known that β-TCP substitutes it for a self bone in the body. Theingredient of the real bone is made of hydroxyapatite and collagen. In this study, the purpose was atgiving the mechanical property and biological property which were near to a bone with β-TCP andcollagen this time. We evaluate what kind of action collagen addition

Notes: The fabrication and fluorescence properties of luminescence porous ceramics wereinvestigated by using recycling glass addition of oxide phosphor to determine the suitability of this material for the application of recycling glass. The aim of this study was to give the fluorescence performance to the porous ceramics using recycling glass with phosphor material. The samples showed a good "Eco" luminescence porous ceramics of about 60 to 70 % porosity using recyclingglass

Notes: Several boride sintered bodies such as TiB2, ZrB2, and SiB6 were previously reported. Inthe present study, the sinterability and physical properties of chromium boride (CrB2) containingchromium carbide (Cr3C2) sintered bodies were investigated in order to determine its new advancedmaterial. The samples were sintered at desired temperature for 1 hour in vacuum under a pressureby hot pressing. The relative density of sintered bodies was measured by Archimedes’ method. Therelative densities of CrB2 addition of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 mass % Cr3C2 composites were 92 to 95 %.The Vickers hardness of the CrB2 with 10 and 15 mass % Cr3C2 composites were about 14 and 15GPa at room temperature, respectively. The Vickers hardness at high temperature of the CrB2addition of 10 mass % Cr3C2 composite decreased with increasing measurement temperature. TheVickers hardness at 1273 K of the sample was 6 GPa. The Vickers hardness of CrB2 addition ofCr3C2 composites was higher than monolithic CrB2 sintered body. The powder X-ray diffractionanalysis detected CrB and B4C phases in CrB2 containing Cr3C2 composites
