Notes: This paper presents a new boundary element approach to transform domain integrals into equivalent boundary integrals. The technique, called the Multiple Reciprocity Method, is applied to 2-D elasticity problems and operates on domain integrals resulting from different types of body forces such as gravitational and centrifugal forces, as well as loadings due to linear and quadratic temperature distributions. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the method.

Notes: In this paper, the multiple reciprocity boundary element method is applied to transform domain integrals due to thermal loadings into equivalent boundary integrals. The resulting formulation is restricted to two-dimensional elastic and isotropic materials with any steady-state temperature distribution, including internal heat generation. Several numerical examples are presented to validate the formulation and demonstrate the accuracy of the method.

Notes: An adaptive boundary element scheme is developed using the concept of local reanalysis and h-hierarchical functions for the construction of near-optimal computational models. The use of local reanalysis in the error estimation guarantees the reliability of the modelling process while the use of quadratic and quartic h-hieararchical elements guarantees the efficiency of the adaptive algorithm. The technique is developed for the elastic analysis of two-dimensional models. Numerical examples show the rapid convergence of the results with a few refinement steps.
